Murudeshwar Temple
About the Temple
Murudeshwar's Shiva temple stands on Kanduka hill, a headland with the Arabian Sea on three sides. A Shiva statue of about 123 feet and a 20-storey Raja Gopura of about 249 feet make it one of the most recognisable sights on the Karnataka coast. Local legend ties the shrine to the Atmalinga story of Gokarna, and the beach below makes it an easy stop between Udupi and Gokarna.
Why visit
- See the giant Shiva statue and the tall Raja Gopura by the sea.
