Each Karthika, TTD holds a nine-day festival for Goddess Padmavathi at Tiruchanur, with the goddess carried out on a different vahanam each morning and evening. It ends with Panchami Theertham, when devotees bathe in the temple tank where they believe she appeared.

What happens

  1. The goddess comes out on the vahanams in two sessions a day, 8 to 10 am and 7 to 9 pm, in TTD's 2025 schedule.
  2. The 2025 order ran from Chinna Sesha on the first evening through Hamsa, Simha, Hanumanta and Gaja to Garuda and the golden chariot on day six, then the Rathotsavam on day eight.
  3. On the last day a saree and gold jewels arrive from the Tirumala temple, sent by Lord Venkateswara. Around midday the Sudarshana Chakram is dipped in the Padma Pushkarini and devotees bathe with it.
  4. The festival closes that night with the lowering of the flag, Dhwajavarohanam.

When to go

The festival falls in Karthika, in November or December, and ends on the shukla panchami. In 2025 it ran from 17 to 25 November.
