Maha Shivaratri Brahmotsavam at Srisailam
Srisailam holds an 11-day Brahmotsavam that peaks on Maha Shivaratri, when devotees, many of them Shiva Deeksha holders, gather for the night abhishekam and the divine wedding. Darshan narrows to alankara darshan for most of the festival.
What happens
- The Brahmotsavam opens with Yagasala Pravesam and Dhwajarohanam, followed by vahana sevas, the Rathotsavam and the Teppotsavam.
- On Shivaratri night the priests perform the Lingodbhava Maha Nyasa Purvaka Rudrabhishekam, followed by the Kalyanotsavam of Mallikarjuna and Bhramaramba.
- The festival closes with Pushpotsavam and Sayanotsavam on the last night.

The Devasthanam lists Maha Shivaratri and Ugadi as its most special festivals, and holds the Kalyanam of Mallikarjuna and Bhramaramba at Shivaratri.
When to go
Maha Shivaratri 2027 falls on Saturday 6 March. In 2026 the Brahmotsavam ran 11 days with Shivaratri on day 8; the 2027 festival dates are not yet announced.

- BookingDo not plan on sparsha darshan. In 2026 Shiva Deeksha holders had it only in the first five days, and it stopped for everyone from two nights before Shivaratri until the end.
